Williams chirps Yankees fans: ‘Y’all sure are mad’ I joined Mets

New York Mets reliever Devin Williams took a parting shot at New York Yankees fans after ditching the Bronx for Queens in free agency.
Williams finalized his three-year, $51-million contract with the Mets on Wednesday. In an Instagram story, he said some Yankees supporters were upset he signed with the crosstown rival even though he was consistently criticized on social media during his only season in pinstripes.

Williams is coming off the worst season of his seven-year career, having authored a 4.79 ERA en route to losing his closer’s role in July. However, the right-hander dealt with some bad luck with balls in play, as he still recorded a 2.68 FIP, 1.13 WHIP, and 13.1 K/9 in 67 appearances.
The two-time All-Star is the third noteworthy player over the last year to bolt from the Yankees to the Mets, joining Clay Holmes and Juan Soto.
