Santa Ana football coach Jarid Allchin has resigned after one season because of family reasons, he confirmed Wednesday.

The Saints finished 2-8, including 1-4 in the Omicron League, this season.

Allchin took the helm after coaching five years as an assistant at Santa Ana.

“Santa Ana was an amazing experience,” he said. “I am grateful to all the players and staff for the support and the countless hours. I am resigning because I am in a part of my life where being home and present for my family is my priority.”

“I am looking forward to being the best father and husband I can possibly be,” he added.

Allchin had served as the ASB director at Santa Ana. Before the start of the school year, he began teaching at a school closer to his home.

Santa Ana defeated Estancia 36-21 in Week 10 but missed the playoffs for the third consecutive season, its longest drought since 2011-13.

Santa Ana is one of three schools in the Santa Ana Unified School District looking for a new football coach. Godinez coach Aron Kaye and Century coach Lance Neal each recently announced their retirements.
