Fans all had the same reaction to Giants’ botched Opening Day graphic
by Matt Wadleigh

The San Francisco Giants began the 2026 MLB season with a 7-0 blowout loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday night at Oracle Park in San Francisco, Calif.
Yet, the Giants’ social media team is still trying to hype up fans with an odd “Opening Day” graphic.
On Thursday afternoon, the Giants posted on X: “SFGiants Opening Day is Robbie Ray’s day!”
#SFGiants Opening Day is Robbie Ray’s day!

And, the graphic says Ray is the Giants’ Opening Day starter in what will be their second game of the season.
After the graphic dropped, fans all said the same thing: Wednesday’s game didn’t exist.
Glad even the Giants Twitter account refuses to acknowledge that yesterday existed https://t.co/9wDvIBbGOf

The Giants and Yankees played on Wednesday night in the first game of the MLB season. It featured Barry Bonds as a desk analyst as he was part of the first-ever Netflix MLB broadcast.
The first game also included the first-ever regular-season ABS challenge and a shocking four-strikeout performance from Aaron Judge.
But, it was a horrendous start for the Giants as the Yankees scored five runs in the second and Logan Webb gave up six earned runs in five innings in the loss.
Perhaps the Giants’ social media team meant the first day game for San Francisco this season, but Opening Day might have been the wrong use of words for the second game of the season.
